You can now download an older version of whatsapp and when you install it it will no longer automatically download the update. It seems that while older versions of WhatsApp can be downloaded and installed, when activated, the program automatically looks for the latest update and there’s no way to stop it doing that. Open the web.whatsapp.com in chrome browser, and download the container as a webapp. There is a link under share menu. You can also pin the webapp to the toolbar, and desktop. It is possible to connect on ipad to your whatsapp account through web browser. You simply go to web.whatsapp.com and log into your account with the use of QR code scan from your mobile.

Meta has all of the developer API’s specific to the iPad; they are published publicly. ALL Apple developers have access to iPad OS APIs, including Meta. I had Android (S21) and switched to iPhone 15 Pro Max and I have been unable to connect to the desktop app. I have literally tried everything. Got the solution to stop the program from updating automatically when it opens ! You have to go to system preferences then software update, then Advanced and uncheck the checkbox check for avia masters demo play updates.

Safari is an integral element of iOS/iPadOS – and cannot be updated independently of the OS. I finally sorted the issue, based on someone in the group here.

I was able to login with no issues. I set firefox as my default browser and was able to scan the QR code. No issues now, though it sucks that you can’t use safari for WhatsApp. We’re aware there’s an ongoing issue on WhatsApp and we’re working to resolve it as soon as possible. We’ll share your report with the team working on this issue and we’re sorry for any inconvenience this is causing. Have tried everything including deleting current versions and reinstalling. WhatsUp goes to upgrade mode and decides to upgrade or not launch at all ….
